Songs of the Educated Youth
Songs of the Educated Youth are songs sung by the Educated Youth of China, expressing their ideals and feelings. These were created and widely popular between 1969 and 1979. Representative works are the "Song of Nanjing Educated Youth", "Young friend, where are you from" and "Song of Guangzhou Educated Youth".
These songs largely lament on the beauty of one's hometown, the love of one's parents, saying goodbye to friends, the joys of youth, the aspirations of life, or the difficulties of survival, expressing the complicated experiences of youth--unspeakable longing, desperation and despair, the 自我调侃 of making music in the midst of suffering,

苦斗十年,锻炼成一支不可战胜的力量。
一旦强虏寇边疆,慷慨悲歌上战场,

I Love You, China
Lyrics: Qu Cong
Music: Zheng Qiufeng
A lark is flying across the blue sky:
"I love you, China!"
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I love your exuberant seedlings in spring,
I love your bountiful golden fruits in autumn,
I love your temperament of green pine trees,
I love your character of red plum flowers,
I love your home-grown sugar cane,
That nurtures my heartfield like milk.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I will dedicate the most beautiful song to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I love your blue waves rolling across the South Sea,
I love your white snow flakes flying over the North Land,
I love your endless forests,
I love your grandiose mountains,
I love your vivacious streams,
That flow through my dreamland with clear sparkles.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I will dedicate my prime youth to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.
Ah ......
Ah ......
I will dedicate my prime youth to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.

Although the song originally appeared in a film, it has since been heard on many occasions as a stand-alone piece for its beauty and artistic merit. The song demands the voice of a masterful soprano. It has been sung by many singers, but the version as rendered by Ye Peiying is regarded as the most beautiful one.
The song is now unofficially in a position in China similar to that of America the Beautiful in USA.
Another song with a similar title, I Love You, California, is an ode to California.

Lyrics in English
I Love You, China
Lyrics: Qu Cong
Music: Zheng Qiufeng
A lark is flying across the blue sky:
"I love you, China!"
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I love your exuberant seedlings in spring,
I love your bountiful golden fruits in autumn,
I love your temperament of green pine trees,
I love your character of red plum flowers,
I love your home-grown sugar cane,
That nurtures my heartfield like milk.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I will dedicate the most beautiful song to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I love your blue waves rolling across the South Sea,
I love your white snow flakes flying over the North Land,
I love your endless forests,
I love your grandiose mountains,
I love your vivacious streams,
That flow through my dreamland with clear sparkles.
I love you, China,
I love you, China,
I will dedicate my prime youth to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.
Ah ......
Ah ......
I will dedicate my prime youth to you,
My motherland,
My homeland.

Bloodstained Glory
Bloodstained Glory is a folk song written in 1987. Originally used to commemorate those who died during Sino-Vietnamese War, the song instead became popular for its commemoration of those who died during the Tiananmen Square protests of 1989.
Perhaps I should say farewell, never to come back. Do you understand? Do you understand that?
Perhaps I should fall, never to rise again. Do you have to wait forever?
If that is that, please do not grieve, the flag of the Republic has our bloodstained glory.
If that is that, please do not grieve, the flag of the Republic has our bloodstained glory.
Perhaps my eyes should never open again. Do you understand my sunken emotions?
Perhaps I will sleep forever, never to wake up. Do you believe that I have been transformed into mountains?
If that is that, please do not grieve, the soils of the Republic contains the love we have given.
If that is that, please do not grieve, the soils of the Republic contains the love we have given.
If that is that, please do not grieve, the flag of the Republic has our bloodstained glory. Bloodstained Glory.

Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China
"Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China" is a very popular song in the People's Republic of China, which originated in 1943.
During World War II when China was fighting the Japanese invasion, Chiang Kai-shek published a book titled ''The Destiny of China'' on March 10, 1943, with a slogan that "without the Kuomintang there would be no China." The Communist Party of China published an editorial entitled "Without the Communist Party there would be no China" in the ''Jiefang Daily'' on August 25, 1943 to criticize the book, concluding that "if today's China had no Communist Party of China, there would be no China." In October 1943, Cao Huoxing , a 19-year-old member of the Communist Party of China, created the lyric for "Without the Communist Party There Would Be No China", based on this.
In 1950, shortly after the foundation of the People's Republic of China, Mao Zedong changed the title to "Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China," by adding the word "new."
The song is included in the Cultural Revolution-era musical ''The East Is Red''.
On June 26, 2006, a memorial in honour of the song "Without the Communist Party, There Would Be No New China" was opened in Fangshan District, Beijing, China with an area of 6000 m2 .
Note: Cao Huoxing made the Communist Party masculine in the official lyrics by using 他 that would literally mean "he", even though it would be normally considered neutral. However, gender is indistiguishable in spoken Chinese and both "he" and "it" share the same spoken form.

Wishing You Happiness and Prosperity
"Wishing You Happiness and Prosperity" is a song and a Chinese Lunar New Year standard. Other English titles for the song include "Congratulations" and "Happiness To You."
The music and words of the song are both by Chen Gexin and it was written in Shanghai in 1945 to celebrate the defeat of and liberation of China at the end of the Second Sino-Japanese War . The final lines of this song replicate the typical beat of the Chinese drum. An early popular recording of the song was by Yao Lee and her brother Yao Min.
Because its Mandarin title is also a common Lunar New Year greeting and the song celebrates the arrival of spring, it quickly became associated almost exclusively with New Year celebrations and remains a part of the season's musical canon. Contemporary versions of the song frequently appear on Chinese New Year musical collection albums, sometimes as electronic dance music performances and occasionally also feature lyrics in Minnan and even English.
A more traditional rendition of the song appeared on the 2002 China Dolls album 多一點點 - 小調大風行.
